KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 16.70 g, 7 h), Pella, struck under Antipater or Polyperchon, circa 323-318/7. Head of Herakles to left, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; in field to left, bee. De Nanteuil 808 (this coin). Price 204. SNG Copenhagen Supp. 120. Weber 2094 (this coin). A lovely example of this rare issue, beautifully toned and with an excellent pedigree. Light scratches and the obverse struck a little bit off center, otherwise, good very fine.
