Citing the ʿAbbasid caliph al-Mustaʿsim billah (AH 640-656 / AD 1242-1258) within a square, ‘al-Imām / al-Mustaʿṣim billāh / Abū Aḥmad ʿAbd / Allāh amīr al-muʾminīn’ (‘Imam al-Mustaʿsim billah Abu Ahmad ʿAbd Allah, Commander of the Believers’ in Arabic); in the margin, ‘al-mulk li-llāh / ḍuriba bi Dimashq / sana iḥdā / …’ (‘The kingdom is Allāh’s. Struck in Dimashq in the year [64]1’ in Arabic). Rev. Within a square, ‘al-malik al-Ṣāliḥ / ʿImād al-Dunyā wa al-Dīn / Ismāʿīl ibn Abī Bakr’ (‘King al-Salih ʿImad al-Dunya wa al-Din Ismaʿil son of Abu Bakr’ in Arabic); deteriorated repetition of the mint and date formula in the margin.
