INDO-SKYTHIANS. Azes, circa 58-12 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 9.35 g, 12 h), Indian standard, uncertain mint in western Gandhara. BACIΛEΩC BACIΛEΩN MEΓAΛ[OY] / [AZOY] King on horseback to right, holding spear in his right hand. Rev. 'Maharajasa rajarajasa mahatasa Ayasa' ('of Great King, King of Kings Azes the Great' in Karoshti) Zeus standing facing, holding thunderbolt in his right hand and long scepter in his left; to left and right, monogram. HGC 12, 626 var. (monogram and letter on reverse). Senior 80.30T. Slightly porous and struck a little bit off center, otherwise, very fine.
