KYRENAICA. Kyrene. Circa 435-331 BC. Hemidrachm (Silver, 12 mm, 1.56 g, 6 h), Asiatic standard. Bearded head of Zeus-Ammon to left, with ram's horn over his ear. Rev. Silphium plant with two pair of leaves and fruits, and with two small silphium sprigs growing out of the stem below; all within circular incuse. BMC 169 and pl. XVI, 15. Boston MFA -. SNG Copenhagen -. Extremely rare and with an exceptionally fine style head of Zeus-Ammon. Minor traces of corrosion and with small areas of horn silver on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
