ISLANDS OFF CARIA, Rhodos. Rhodes. Circa 125-88 BC. Hemidrachm (Silver, 13 mm, 1.26 g, 12 h), 'Plinthophoric' coinage, Antaios, magistrate. Radiate head of Helios facing slightly to right. Rev. ANTAIOΣ Rose with bud to right; below to left, aphlaston; all within incuse square. HGC 6, 1463. HN online 2846. Jenkins, Rhodian, Group D, -, cf. 164 (drachm). Extremely rare. Attractive iridescent toning. Tiny marks and with a minor spot of corrosion on the obverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.
