THESSALY, Thessalian League. Late 2nd-mid 1st century BC. Stater (Silver, 24 mm, 6.10 g, 1 h), Alketes and Sosipatros, magistrates. Head of Zeus to right, wearing oak wreath. Rev. ΘEΣΣA/ΛΩN - [Α]Λ-ΚΕΤΟΥ - ΣΩΣΙΠΑΤΡΟΣ Athena Itonia striding right, hurling spear with her right hand and holding shield on her left arm; to right, monogram. BCD Thessaly II 827. HGC 4, 209. Nicely toned and of fine style, with a wonderful head of Zeus. Good very fine.
