MACEDON (ROMAN PROVINCE). Aesillas, quaestor, circa 95-70 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 16.82 g, 12 h), uncertain mint in Macedon, struck under L. Iulius Caesar, praetor, circa 70-65. CAE•PR•MAKEΔONΩN Head of Alexander the Great to right, with horn of Ammon over his ear; behind to left, Θ. Rev. AESILLA[S] / Q Money chest, club, and chair; all within laurel wreath. AMNG III/2, 7. Bauslaugh Group VII, O86. HGC 3.1, 1112. Rare. A lovely example with a beautiful portrait of Alexander. Minor spots of horn silver, otherwise, good very fine.
