LOWER DANUBE. Uncertain tribe. Circa 2nd-1st centuries BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 3.35 g, 6 h), imitating Alexander III of Macedon. Celticized head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. Celticized Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, amphora. Dembski 1464 var. Lanz 896 var. Lukanc pl. 5, 64. OTA 577/1. Beautifully toned and very well centered. A few faint marks, otherwise, good very fine.
