Gordian III, 238-244. Antoninianus (Silver, 24 mm, 3.34 g, 6 h), a contemporary imitation of an issue from Rome. Irregular mint, after 240. IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Gordian III to right, seen from behind. Rev. P M TR P III COS P P Jupiter standing front, head to left, holding thunderbolt in his right hand and long scepter in his left; at his side to left, small figure of Gordian III, togate, standing front. Cf. Cohen 189, Michaux 303 and RIC 16 (for possible prototype). Attractive imitative style. Thin flan crack and with minor doubling, otherwise, good very fine.
