LOWER DANUBE. Geto-Dacians. 1st century BC. Denarius (Subaeratus, 18 mm, 2.75 g, 2 h), imitating Roman Republican denarii of Gargilius, Ogulnius, and Vergilius (86 BC) and L. Flaminius Chilo (109-108 BC). Head of Apollo to right, wearing oak wreath; below, thunderbolt. Rev. L•FLAWINI / CILO Victory driving biga to right, holding wreath in her right hand and reins in her left. Cf. Crawford 350A/1 (for possible prototype of obverse) and 302/1 (for possible prototype of reverse). Lightly toned and with a lovely obverse. Small breaks in plating and the reverse struck somewhat off center and with a scratch, otherwise, very fine.
