Apollonia-Mordiaion struck homonoia coinage with three partners: Perge, Lycia, and Ilion. While the alliance with Perge - an important regional center - may have served practical political or economic ends, the Lycian homonoia likely relates to the settlement of Lycians, perhaps already in the Hellenistic period, as suggested by both numismatic and epigraphic evidence. By contrast, the homonoia with the distant city of Ilion was probably intended to proclaim Apollonia-Mordiaion’s Greek credentials and prestigious connections.
