LOCAL ISSUES, Bukhara. Mawak, 5th century AD. Obol (Silver, 12 mm, 0.58 g, 12 h). Within a dotted circle, diademed and draped bust of Mawak to right, with a long beard and slightly curved hair. Rev. Within a dotted circle, fire altar with flames; around, ‘MRʾY mwʾk’ = ‘xūβu Mawāk’ (‘King Mawāk’ in Sogdian). CSCL B-01. Very rare. Nicely toned. Crystallized and edge somewhat chipped, otherwise, good very fine.
