A well centered and complete dekadrachm in the style of Euainetos

SICILY. Syracuse. Dionysios I, 405-367 BC. Dekadrachm (Silver, 35 mm, 42.20 g, 8 h), unsigned dies in the style of Euainetos, circa 405-380. Charioteer driving quadriga galloping to left, holding kentron in his right hand and reins in his left; above, Nike flying right, crowning the charioteer with a wreath; in exergue, on two slightly raised lines, shield, pair of greaves, cuirass and crested Attic helmet; below, [ΑΘΛΑ]. Rev. ΣΥ[-Ρ-Α-Κ-ΟΣΙΩΝ] Head of Arethousa to left, wearing wreath of reeds, triple-pendant earring and pearl necklace; around, four dolphins; behind neck, scallop-shell. Boston MFA 429 (same dies). Dewing 913-4 (same dies). Gallatin R.XIV/F.IX. Gulbenkian 316 (same dies). Well centered and complete. Struck from a somewhat worn obverse die and with minor traces of corrosion, otherwise, very fine.
