INDIA, Gupta Empire. First Dynasty. Chandragupta I, circa 320-335. Dinar (Gold, 21 mm, 7.42 g, 12 h), with Queen Kumaradevi. 'SRI KUMARADEVI' (in Brahmi) / 'CHANDRAGUPTA' (in Brahmi) King Chandragupta I and Queen Kumaradevi are standing facing each other, both with a halo around their heads; Chandragupta is presenting a ring to the queen, hold with the forefinger and thumb of his right hand and holding standard surmounted by a crescent in his left hand; Kumaradevi is placing her right hand on her hip; above the royal couple, crescent. Rev. LICHCHHAVAYAH (in Brahmi) Ardoxsho enthroned facing, holding cornucopiae in her right hand and filleted investiture garland in her left; in field to upper left, tamgha. Kumar Class I, var. A.2. Rare. The obverse somewhat double struck and with a large scrape, otherwise, very fine.
