The Ragama POW Camp
Lot 4096
CEYLON (SRI LANKA). British POW camp money. 10 Cents 1901-2 (Campbell 4817.). Extremely rare. Nearly very fine.

The Ragama POW Camp, located near Colombo in Ceylon (Sri Lanka), operated from 1901 to 1902 during the Second Boer War. It held several hundred Boer prisoners captured by the British in South Africa, including officers and civilians. Conditions were generally harsh due to the tropical climate and disease, though the camp was considered better organized than some others in the British Empire.
