INDIA, Mughal Empire. Jalal al-Din 'Ali Jawhar Shah Alam II, 1759-1806. Rupee (Silver, 22 mm, 11.5 g, 11 h), probably issued by Ghulām Qādir (AH 1201-1202 / AD 1787-1788), Hathras mint, year 30. The couplet, ‘sekke zad bar haft keshvar sāye-ye fazl-e elāh, hāmi-ye din-e Mohammad shāh-e ālam pādeshāh’ (‘King Shah Alam, Shadow of God’s Grace, Supporter of Muhammad’s Religion, put [his] stamp on the seven climes’ in Persian). Rev. ‘zarb-e Hāthras sane-ye 30 jolus-e meymanat maʾnus’ (‘Struck in Hathras in the year 30 of the prosperous reign’ in Persian). KM 640. In NGC encapsulation, graded MS 63. Only one example graded higher. Good extremely fine.
