CENTRAL EUROPE. Helvetii (?). Late 2nd-early 1st century BC. Scyphate Stater (Electrum, 22 mm, 6.16 g, 5 h), 'à la roue' type. Celticized laureate head of Apollo to right. Rev. Celticized charioteer driving biga to left; to left and right, half wheel; below, four-spoked wheel; all within shallow circular incuse. D. F. Allen: The Philippus in Switzerland and the Rhineland, in: SNR 53 (1974), pl. 17, 256-8. DT -, cf. 3067. LT -. SLM 863-5. Rare. Slightly rough and with some surface cracks on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.
