CENTRAL EUROPE. Noricum (East). Circa 2nd-1st centuries BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 24 mm, 8.92 g, 11 h), 'Gjurgjevac' type. Celticized head of Apollo to left, wearing three-strand pearl diadem. Rev. Celticized horse prancing left. Dembski 871. Göbl, Noricum, pl. 29, 85-94 (V67/R134). Lanz 186-7 (same dies). Nicely toned. Flan cracks and with minor weakness, otherwise, very fine.

From the collection of Kurt Zimmermann (* 1937) of Winterthur, long-serving numismatist at Schweizerische Kreditanstalt and Leu Numismatik, privately acquired from Dr. F. Sternberg in October 1978.
