An exceptionally heavy Hyperpyron of Andronicus II weighing 6.31 g

Andronicus II Palaeologus, with Andronicus III, 1325-1328. Hyperpyron (Electrum, 27 mm, 6.31 g, 12 h), Constantinopolis. Bust of Virgin Mary, orans; to left, three pellets above K; to right, three pellets above X; all within city walls furnished with four groups of towers. Rev. Christ standing front and blessing Andronicus II and Andronicus III, kneeling to left and right, respectively; in fields, IC - XC; around, names of the emperors. PCPC 185.3 (sigla 14). SB 2461. An exceptionally heavy example. Graffito on the reverse and with two flan cracks, otherwise, very fine.
