Alexius I Comnenus, 1081-1118. Histamenon (Billon, 25 mm, 4.11 g, 6 h), Constantinopolis, 1082-1087. Christ seated facing on square-backed throne, wearing nimbus, pallium and colobium, rasing his right hand in benediction and holding book of Gospel in his left; in fields, IC - XC. Rev. AΛЄ ΔЄC Crowned bust of Alexius I facing, wearing loros, holding cruciform scepter in his right hand and globus cruciger in his left. DOC 2b.2 var. (scepter type). Leu Web Auction 7 (2019), 1565-6. SB 1893 var. (scepter type). A very rare variety. Somewhat rough, otherwise, nearly very fine.
