Elagabalus, 218-222. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 3.00 g, 6 h), uncertain mint in the East, 219. IMP ANTONINVS AVG Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Elagabalus to right, seen from behind. Rev. SPEI PERPETVAE Spes advancing left, holding flower in her right hand and raising her skirt with her left. BMC 313. Cohen 273. RIC 199. Thirion 367. A bright and clear example with a lovely eastern portrait. A few tiny marks, otherwise, virtually as struck.

From the Joseph Markowitz Collection (1897-1981), brought to Israel in 1949 and kept in the family ever since.
