Apparently unpublished and of great numismatic interest
Lot 149
Elagabalus, 218-222. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 2.90 g, 6 h), uncertain mint in the East, 218-219. ANTONINVS PIVS FEL AVG Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Elagabalus to right, seen from behind. Rev. SALVS ANTONINI AVG Salus standing right, holding serpent with her right hand and egg (?) in her left. BMC -. Cohen -. RIC -. Thirion -. Apparently unpublished and of great numismatic interest. A few very light deposits, otherwise, good very fine.

From the collection of Kurt Zimmermann (* 1937) of Winterthur, long-serving numismatist at Schweizerische Kreditanstalt and Leu Numismatik, privately acquired from Schweizerische Kreditanstalt in May 1974.

This reverse type, so familiar from Rome mint coinage, is hitherto entirely unknown from the eastern mint and is therefore of the highest numismatic and historical significance.
