SASANIAN KINGS. Ardashir III, 628-630. Drachm (Silver, 32 mm, 4.00 g, 3 h), NY (Nihāwand), RY 1 = AD 628. Draped bust of Ardashir III to right, wearing an elaborate mural crown with a korymbos set on a crescent on top; behind head, ‘ʾp̄zwn’ (‘increase’ in Pahlavi); before head, ‘ʾrthštr’ = ‘Ardaxšīr’ (‘Ardashir’ in Pahlavi). Rev. Fire altar with ribbons, flanked by two attendants; above altar, star and crescent; to left, date in Pahlavi; to right, ‘NY’ (abbreviation for the name of the mint in Pahlavi). Göbl type I/1. Some scratches and roughness, otherwise, about extremely fine.
