Draped bust of Ardashir I to right, wearing a diadem and a close-fitting headdress with earflaps surmounted by a large korymbos, facing the crowned bust of his son, Shapur I; illegible legend around. Rev. Fire altar; to left and right, ‘NWRA ZY ˗ ʾrthštr’ = ‘ādur ī Ardaxšīr’ (‘Fire of Ardashir’ in Pahlavi). Göbl type VII/2. SNS I, type VIII(5)/3a(2b). Rare. Somewhat rough, otherwise, very fine.
