NORTHWEST GAUL. Coriosolites. Circa 100-50 BC. Stater (Billon, 23 mm, 6.00 g, 12 h), 'au nez pointé' type. Celticized male head to right, the hair in large spiral curls and with an S-shaped ear. Rev. Celticized rider on horseback to right, holding long whip in his right hand; below, boar. DT 2340. LT 6598. Edge splits and light porosity, otherwise, very fine.

From the collection of Kurt Zimmermann (* 1937) of Winterthur, long-serving numismatist at Schweizerische Kreditanstalt and Leu Numismatik, privately acquired from Schweizerische Kreditanstalt in July 1972, reportedly ex Bourgey.
