KINGS OF PERGAMON. Eumenes I, 263-241 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30 mm, 17.00 g, 12 h), Pergamon, circa 255/0-241. Laureate head of Philetairos to right. Rev. ΦΙΛΕΤΑΙΡΟΥ Athena enthroned left, resting her left elbow on shield and crowning dynastic name with a wreath held in her right hand; in background, spear; to outer left, ivy leaf; in inner left field, Α; in field to right, bow. Franke-Hirmer pl. 203, 737 V (this coin). SNG von Aulock 1357 ('Attalos I') = Westermark Group IVA, V.XXXIX/R1 (this coin). Lightly toned and with a fine pedigree. Two minor bangs on Philetairos' cheek and with a few light marks, otherwise, about extremely fine.


From the collection of Regierungsrat Dr. iur. Hans Krähenbühl, Leu 8, 23 October 2021, 78, previously privately acquired from Bank Leu on 26 August 1970 (with a photocopy of the original invoice enclosed) and from the collection of H. von Aulock (1906-1980).
