Augustus, 27 BC-AD 14. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 3.94 g, 6 h), uncertain Spanish mint (Colonia Patricia or Tarraco?), 18-17 BC. S•P•Q•R•IM[P•CAESARI•AV]G•COS•XI•TRI•POT•VI• Bare head of Augustus to right. Rev. [CIVIB•ET•SIGN•MIL]IT•A•PART•RECVPER• Triumphal Arch of Augustus: central arch, surmounted by a facing quadriga with Augustus as driver, between two side arches, on each of which is a standing figure; on left, Parthian standing right, holding a signum in his raised right hand; on right, Parthian standing left, holding an aquila in his raised right hand and a bow in his left. BMC -. CBN -. Cohen -. RIC 137. Very rare and in exceptional condition for the issue. A beautiful coin with a lovely portrait and a very sharp reverse. Struck on a somewhat short flan, otherwise, good extremely fine.
