Tacitus, 275-276. 'Denarius' (Silvered bronze, 19 mm, 2.41 g, 12 h), an 'offstrike' from aureus dies. Serdica, circa January-June 276. IMP C M CL TACITVS AVG Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Tacitus to right. Rev. ROMAE AETERNAE / S C Roma seated left, holding Victory on globe in her right hand and spear in her left; at her side, shield. Cohen -, cf. 116 (for aureus). RIC -, cf. 209 (for aureus). RIC online -, cf. 3918 (for aureus). Cf. Rauch 80 (2007), 239 (an offstrike without S C on the reverse from Siscia). Apparently unpublished and of great interest. Slightly rough and with some traces of cleaning , otherwise, about extremely fine.
