Gallienus, 253-268. Aureus (Gold, 20 mm, 2.37 g, 7 h), Rome, 253. IMP C P LIC GALLIENVS AVG Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Gallienus to right, seen from behind. Rev. PAX AVGG Pax standing front, head to left, holding branch in her right hand and long scepter in her left. Calicò 3566 var. (bust draped only). MIR 27o (1 specimen). RIC 87 var. (bust draped only). Of the highest rarity, apparently the second and finest known example. A lustrous and very sharply struck piece. Minor flan fault on the obverse, otherwise, virtually as struck.
