Forces of Galba in Spain. In the name of Augustus, 27 BC-AD 14. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 3.38 g, 6 h), uncertain mint in Spain. Group A.I, 3 April-2nd half of June 68. CAESAR AVGVSTVS Laureate head of Augustus to right. Rev. DIVVS - IVLIVS Sidus Iulium: eight-rayed comet with tail upwards. BMC 49 = Nicolas A8 and pl. XX, A8 BR (same obverse die). CG 146.6 (this coin). Cohen 98 (for Augustan prototype). Martin A 10. RIC 92. Very rare. An exceptional piece, beautifully toned and well struck on a full flan. Slightly granular and with a few light scratches on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
