PHOENICIA. Tyre. 126/5 BC-AD 65/6. Shekel (Silver, 26 mm, 14.00 g, 1 h), CY 110 = 17/6 BC. Laureate head of Melkart to right, lion skin tied around neck. Rev. TYPOY IEPAΣ KAI AΣYΛOY Eagle standing left on prow; palm frond behind; in field to left, PI above club; to right, monogram; between the eagle's legs, Punic 'bet'. DCA-Tyre 407. Prieur 1392. RPC I 4641. A boldly struck, nicely toned and very attractive piece. Some faint scratches on the obverse and some deposits on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
