MOESIA INFERIOR. Nicopolis ad Istrum. Macrinus, 217-218. Tetrassarion (Bronze, 26 mm, 10.44 g, 7 h), Marcus Claudius Agrippa, legatus consularis. AY K OΠΠEΛ CEYH MAKΡINOC Laureate and cuirassed bust of Macrinus to right, wearing aegis on his left shoulder. Rev. ΥΠ AΓΡIΠΠA NIKOΠOΛ-ITΩN ΠΡOC / ICTΡΩ Macrinus, raising his right hand, driving quadriga to right preceded by Virtus holding vexillum in her left hand and looking back; above, trophy flanked by two captives seated on ground line; on chariot, Nike flying right, holding wreath and palm frond. Hristova-Jekov 8.23.34.2. Varbanov 3405 corr. Rare. A beautiful example with a lovely olive green patina. Good very fine.
