Cnaeus Pompeius Magnus (Pompey the Great). Denarius (Silver, 20 mm, 4.07 g, 6 h), with Cn. Calpurnius Piso, pro quaestor, military mint moving with Pompey the Great in Greece, 49 BC. [CN PISO] PRO•Q Head of Numa Pompilius to right, wearing diadem inscribed NVMA. Rev. Prow of galley to right; above, MAGN; below, PRO•COS. Babelon (Pompeia) 8. Crawford 446/1. RBW 1565. Sydenham 1032. An attractive and lightly toned example. The obverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, good very fine.
