A fine style early posthumous Stater of Lysimachos

KINGS OF THRACE. Lysimachos, 305-281 BC. Stater (Gold, 17 mm, 8.48 g, 12 h), Byzantion, circa 260-245. Diademed head of Alexander the Great to right with horn of Ammon over his ear. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ Athena seated left, holding Nike, crowning the king's name, in her right hand and leaning with her left arm on shield decorated with lion's head; behind, transverse spear; in inner left field, monogram of ΛΕ (recut over monogram of EY). Classical Numismatic Group 57 (2001), 271 (same dies, but with monogram of EY). HGC 3.2, 1374. Marinescu Group II, -. Müller -. Numismatica Ars Classica 146 (2024), 2172 (same obverse die, but differing monogram on reverse). Rare and of fine style. Struck from a somewhat worn reverse die and with minor marks, otherwise, about extremely fine.

From a German collection, privately acquired from Dr. Michael Brandt in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
