Caracalla, 198-217. As (Copper, 25 mm, 10.52 g, 1 h), Rome, 203. ANTON PIVS AVG PONT TR P VI Bare-headed and draped bust of Caracalla to right, seen from behind. Rev. VIRTVS AVGG / S - C Caracalla standing front, head to left, holding Victory in his right hand and inverted spear with his left, being crowned with wreath by Minerva, standing front, head to left, holding inverted spear with her left hand. BMC p. 335† = Cohen 669 corr. (ANT instead of ANTON and not draped). RIC 417b. Extremely rare, the best of only three known examples, the others in London and Paris. Very fine.
