Julius Caesar, 49-44 BC. Denarius (Silver, 17 mm, 3.88 g, 1 h), military mint in Sicily (?), 46. COS•TERT DICT•ITER Head of Ceres to right, wearing wreath of grain ears. Rev. AVGVR - PONT•MAX Culullus, aspergillum, jug and lituus; to right, M. Babelon (Julia) 16. Crawford 467/1b. RBW 1638. Sydenham 1024. Beautifully toned. The reverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, extremely fine.
