A pseudo-Kufic legend around a central Y-shaped mark and circle, ‘al-malik Ghūliyilmū al-muʿtazz billāh’ (‘King Guglielmo, Strengthened by Allah’ in Arabic); illegible margin in pseudo-Kufic. Rev. Long cross; IC – XC / IN – KA, the abbreviated form of Ἰησοῦς Χριστὸς νικᾷ (‘Jesus Christ conquers’ in Greek); illegible mint/date formula around. D'Andrea (Normanni) 322. MIN 288. Spahr 89. Spinelli XIII/18. Very rare and well preserved for this difficult issue. Minor areas of weakness and small flan faults on the edge, otherwise, good very fine.
