Among the latest plated antoniniani
Lot 1772
Postumus, Romano-Gallic Emperor, 260-269. Antoninianus (Subaeratus, 22 mm, 4.00 g, 3 h), a contemporary imitation of an issue from Treveri, irregular mint, after 261. IMP C POSTVMVS P F AVG Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Postumus to right. Rev. FIDES MILITVM Fides standing front, head to left, holding standard in each hand. Cf. AGK (corr.) 21, Cunetio 2386, Elmer 133 and RIC V.4 58 (for prototype). Extremely rare as a fourrée. Somewhat rough and with breaks in plating, otherwise, very fine.

Ex Savoca 324th Weekly Blue Auction, 23 May 2026, 329.
As the silver content of the antoninianus steadily declined under Postumus, fourrée counterfeits of his coins are extremely rare: once the official issues themselves contained scarcely any silver, the effort involved was hardly worthwhile for counterfeiters. The present piece therefore ranks among the latest fourrée antoniniani ever produced
