The provincial coins of Seleucia ad Calycadnum often exhibit double strikes, though rarely as extreme as on the reverse of the present specimen, which was struck twice with a pronounced displacement. Interestingly, the error had no effect on the well-struck obverse, perhaps offering a clue to the striking process: evidently, the flan remained firmly positioned against the obverse die during both blows, while only the reverse was struck out of alignment
