Byzantine Weights, Circa 7th-8th/9th century. Weight of 3 Ounkia (Bronze, 39 mm, 81.39 g), a uniface discoid commercial weight with double-grooved edge. Γᴑ - Γ with cross above, all engraved in outline; in the center, small centering hole on a raised boss; all within inner raised circle; around, border of crescents and pellets; all within prominent raised outer rim. Rev. Plain, with some adjustment marks. Bendall -, cf. 122 (with later Arabic inscription on the reverse). MAH 79. Pera -. A splendid, perfectly preserved weight with a fine grayish patina and wonderful earthen highlights. Minor deposits on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
