PTOLEMAIC KINGS OF EGYPT. Ptolemy VI Philometor, first reign, 180-164 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 14.18 g, 11 h), Alexandria, circa 180-170. Diademed head of Ptolemy I to right, wearing aegis. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΠΤΟΛΕΜΑΙΟΥ Eagle with closed wings standing left on thunderbolt. SNG Copenhagen 262-268. Svoronos 1489. A spectacular example, boldly struck and with beautiful iridescent toning. Good extremely fine.
