Central field within ornate hexagon, in three lines: lā ilāha / illā Allāh / waḥdahū (‘There is no deity but God alone’ in Arabic); in margin: ḍuriba / bi-Ludd / [sanat / khams / wa-thamānīn / wa-miʾa] (‘Struck at Ludd in the year one hundred [and eighty-five]’ in Arabic). Rev. Central field, with ornaments above and below: Muḥammad / rasūl / Allāh (‘Muhammad is the Messenger of God’ in Arabic); in margin: mimmā amara bihī al-amīr ʿAbd Allāh ibn Saʿīd al-Ḥarashī mawlā amīr al-muʾminīn (‘From what was ordered by the amir ʿAbd Allāh ibn Saʿīd al-Ḥarashī, mawlā of the Commander of the Believers’ in Arabic).
