CO[L NEAP]OL Neptune standing right, right foot set on prow, holding dolphin in his right hand and trident in his left; at right, boar standing left before aquila; in field between, star; above, Mount Gerizim. The reverse types, Neptune and the boar, were both associated with Legio X Fretensis, which was based at Jerusalem. As Meshorer suggested, a detachment (vexillatio) of the legion may have been stationed at Neapolis during the reign of Trebonianus Gallus; alternatively, the type may reflect the settlement of veterans in the colonia.
