A very rare jumping lion Denarius

Caracalla, 198-217. Denarius (Silver, 20 mm, 3.53 g, 6 h), Rome, 217. ANTONINVS PIVS AVG GERM Laureate head of Caracalla to right. Rev. P M TR P XX COS IIII P P Lion, radiate, prancing to left, holding thunderbolt in his jaws. BMC p. 465, 196 note = Cohen 402. RIC 296c. Very rare and unusually attractive, with a beautiful jumping lion. Minor surface crack on the obverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.

From the Joseph Markowitz Collection (1897-1981), brought to Israel in 1949 and kept in the family ever since.
