SICILY. Gela. Circa 480/75-475/70 BC. Didrachm (Silver, 19 mm, 8.74 g, 1 h). Bearded horseman, nude, riding right, brandishing spear in his upraised right hand. Rev. [C]ΕΛΑΣ Forepart of man-headed bull to right. Jenkins, Gela 72 (O22/R34). SNG ANS 15 (same dies). A nicely toned example with a bold man-headed bull. The obverse struck from the usual worn die and slightly off center, otherwise, about extremely fine.
