ATTICA. Athens. Circa 455-449 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 23 mm, 17.20 g, 11 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with three olive leaves and palmette. Rev. AΘE Owl standing right, head facing; to left, olive sprig and crescent; all within incuse square. HGC 4, 1596. Starr Group V. Svoronos pl. 12 passim. Boldly struck, with an excellent reverse. Small flan faults on the obverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.
