PTOLEMAIC KINGS OF EGYPT. Ptolemy I Soter, 305-282 BC. Trichryson or Pentadrachm (Gold, 22 mm, 17.81 g, 12 h), Alexandria, circa 294-282. Diademed head of Ptolemy I to right, wearing aegis around his neck; small Δ behind ear. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ΠΤΟΛΕΜΑΙΟΥ Eagle with closed wings standing left on thunderbolt; in field to left, monogram of ΠΑP. CPE 166. Dewing 2740. Noeske -. SNG Copenhagen -. Svoronos 210. Well centered and with a fine portrait of the dynasty's founder. Very minor die rust on the obverse and with a light scratch and a faint graffito on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
