Aelius, Caesar, 136-138. Sestertius (Orichalcum, 33 mm, 23.50 g, 6 h), Rome, 137. L AELIVS CAESAR Bare head of Aelius to right. Rev. TR POT COS II / S - C Fortuna standing front, holding rudder in her right hand and cornucopiae in her left, her head turned to right toward Spes, standing front, head to left, holding flower in her right hand and raising skirt with her left. BMC 1909 var. (S - C in exergue). Cohen 60. RIC 2683 var. (S - C in exergue). An apparently unique variety. Boldly struck in high relief, a beautiful coin. Two spots of corrosion on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
