GERMANY. Öttingen-Wallerstein-Spielberg. Johann Aloys I, 1737-1780. Halbtaler 1759 (Silver, 34 mm, 14.50 g, 12 h), so called Sebastiansgulden. Augsburg. S:SEBAST:PATRONUS:RHÆTIÆ• St. Sebastian on clouds, tied to a tree and pierced by five arrows. Rev. Crowned coat of arms with hound supporters; below, value XX / EINE / FEINE / MARCK within cartouche, between date 17-59. Löffelholz 412. Schön 8 (this coin). Lightly toned and beautifully preserved. Very minor scratches on the obverse and minor flan faults, otherwise, good extremely fine.

St. Sebastian, whose martyrdom is depicted here, was the patron saint of the western Danube province of Raetia, where Öttingen was located.
