SATRAPS OF CARIA. Maussolos, circa 377/6-353/2 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 23 mm, 15.29 g, 1 h), Halikarnassos. Laureate head of Apollo facing slightly to right with drapery below. Rev. MAYΣΣΩΛΛO Zeus Labraundos standing right, holding labrys in his right hand and long scepter with his left; in field to left, monogram of ME. BMC 8. Hurter, Pixodaros, 39. SNG von Aulock 2358 (same obverse die). Beautifully toned and of splendid late classical style. Nearly extremely fine.
